How would you describe yourself?

I would describe myself as a Creative; I love creating fashion and art.  I am a loving mom and spouse; a lover of nature; a lover of color, symbolism and elegance.

Is there any special location that best describes you?

I think a special location that would best describe me is a forest with a rushing river and an array of many flowers of color throughout it.

How would you describe your business?

My business is all about creating for others. I paint and embellish one-of-a-kind clothing and accessories. I love to create items that make my clients feel good and stand out in a crowd.

How long have you been in business?

I have always had a business in the art world since my early 20's. Incorporating clothing and accessories started 5 years ago.

What inspired you to choose this career?

I had a career as a banker for over 20 years... what I do now is my life's dream.

Can you describe a typical day in your daily and busy life?

A typical day would consist of sorting through email and digital media, programing any photos for publishings for the day. Check my calendar for appointments or events for the day. I ensure I have any supplies to keep my project moving then I work on my projects, whether that be a gown, shoes, a headpiece or whatever I am doing for a client at the time. Time flies so the day can pass pretty quickly.

How would you like to inspire other women?

I really enjoy meeting other women who are going through the same rollercoaster as I am, women who want to start a business or need help in their job. I have made introductions to other women and organizations who may be a good fit for them. Having experience in the corporate world and being an entrepreneur I believe I can help a women in not making the same mistakes I did. I can share many lessons learned and I believe that women helping women is important and necessary. Being supportive, a good listener and a cheering squad is something I do and always happy to do.

what is your greatest accomplishment?

My greatest accomplishment outside of my daughter is that I am doing what I was destined to do. I came full circle of combining my love for fashion and art and now making beautiful pieces for my clients. I just love what I do!

What is your greatest fear?

Fear is something that happens to all of us even to those who say they have no fear. What is important is that we have the capacity of overcoming that fear. Sometimes those inner voices try to stop you in your tracks. Fear happens but I would urge everyone to understand that you just have to go past it, believe in yourself, stay on course, move forward. You got this!!!

Do you read? If so, what is your favorite book?

Most of what I read is Fashion related so lots of picture books.   I will tell you what I like to watch... Downton Abbey, anything Jane Austin... loved the era and the clothing... I also enjoy documentaries of fashion icons, feel good movies & comedies.

A Giving Heart

As I continue my journey in life, I learn to focus on my blessings and see life with a giving heart. In my opinion seeing life with love brings you happiness and less stress. Why not make someone smile if you have the power to do so!

Last month I had the opportunity to volunteer at an event that supported the Phoenix Cancer Support Network. At this event families and children gathered to support Bridget. Bridget is a little girl currently recovering from cancer.

It was rewarding to see so many smiles celebrating and having fun. The best part of it is that I got to capture these beautiful memories for them!

Why You Should Celebrate Your Birthday With A Photo Session

2crop.jpg

Age is just a number, this is what most people say, but why is it that we become conscious of our appearance as we age?

As a woman, I feel that it is important to feel beautiful, to look in the mirror and notice your beauty.  Unfortunately, as we get older, we don't take the time to notice these things and with time you slowly start to disconnect from yourself.

For this reason, I wanted to celebrate my 40th birthday with a photo session - to embrace my age - my identity.   I not only want my children to remember me this way, but I also want to remember myself at the age of 40!

Every woman should get to experience a glamour style session.  It's a beautiful process, where you get to reconnect with yourself.   It is a time to step away from your busy life, and relax as you get pampered with professional  hair and makeup, beautiful dresses, and enjoy Hors D'oeuvres.

Life should not only be lived, it should also be celebrated!  Do you own images of yourself that you absolutely love??

Women With Style - Tyler Butler

I had the honor of photographing Tyler Butler of 11Eleven Consulting.  This session was all about glamour and fashion; however I got to meet Tyler and her business a little more!  Tyler does not only have a good taste in fashion, she is also a successful business owner and compassionate soul.   She is involved in many community and charity events, which I admire about her!   Not many of us take the time to help and serve our community.

The session took place at a beautiful architectural building in Phoenix.   I always like to pick the location based on my client's personality and wardrobe. This particular location was perfect for Tyler's session.  It complimented her wardrobe and her career.  I love locations that have a variety of props to use as backdrops, my favorite is playing with different color schemes!

It is always an honor to photograph strong, fun, and inspirational women. Thank you Tyler!

Julie Werner Xander - Lifestyle Jules

I had the pleasure of photographing Julie Werner for the second time.   This time our session wasn't about fashion, it was more about staying fit.      The weather has been perfect lately so we decided to take advantage of it and shoot outdoors, not that we get a real winter in Arizona, but we take advantage of the 80 degree weather when we can!

We picked the perfect location for this session.  I love locations that offer a clean background as well as a beautiful landscape.  Julie was able to demonstrate a typical workout with some of the equipment she uses and I was able to capture the moment.  I didn't realize that fitness sessions could be so much fun!  Not only did I get to capture some amazing fitness pictures, but I also got some tips on fitness and life!  Thank you Julie for being so inspiring!

Women with Style - Julie Werner

Have you ever met someone for the first time and you instantly feel their positive energy? This happened with Julie.

Julie and I were emailing back and forth on setting up a photo session date.  When we met for her photo shoot, I instantly felt her enthusiasm, and motivation.   Lets be honest; us women, at some point in our life, lose the motivation to work towards our goal (fitness or career) or we don't feel comfortable in our own skin. This is normal until we realize that we are valuable, strong and can accomplish anything we want!

I encourage you to visit Julie's website Lifestyle Jules.  You will be inspired by her story and enthusiasm.    Julie is a fitness instructor, fashion stylist and entrepreneur.  She uses her experience in fashion and fitness to help women feel confident and beautiful no matter what size or shape you are!

I had an amazing time doing this photo shoot.  It is always fun to meet women who love to inspire women and love what they do!

Women with Style - Cynthia Sassi

I had the honor of photographing Cynthia Sassi, the founder and president of Fabulous Arizona, a well known online lifestyle publication.  It is always inspiring to meet successful women.  Women who work hard to accomplish their dreams and yet make the time to live a healthy lifestyle.

Fabulous Arizona is the platform for many businesses.   It not only helps business owners get the exposure they need, but it also informs the community of upcoming events, new places in town, fashion shows, fitness etc.  It is a space where business owners and consumers stay connected.

Cynthia's mission is not only to focus on the success of her business, but also to make a difference in people's lives, a quality that you hardly find in people today!  Her positive outlook in life, motivation,  and confidence have brought her to where shes at today.   Below are some questions I had to ask :)   (feel free to comment and share)

What is your motivation in life?

I want what I do to inspire people and help others make their dreams come true.  The premise of my business as a whole is helping people achieve their dreams - whether that be to own their own hair salon, gym, restaurant, etc.  I want them to succeed in realizing that dream!

What is your favorite quote:

"Work hard and be nice to people."  I feel like so many people think the only way to be successful is to be cut throat, but I firmly believe in karma and that being a good person truly pays off and comes back to you.  It may not be the fastest route to success, but I believe it is the way to succeed.

How would you like to inspire and motivate women?

I want women (and anyone) to know they have the confidence within to do whatever they want, they jut need to believe in themselves.  Be confident in what you do. You will make mistakes and those mistakes will make you stronger and better.

What keeps you motivated to live a healthy lifestyle?

Running is my sanity. My workouts allow me to unplug and reboot. I love to challenge myself-running marathons taught me so much about pushing myself outside my comfort zone and doing things I didn't think were possible. I have been able to take that mental strength and confidence and apply it to my business.

Women with Style - Gitana Styling

I am so excited to share this project with you.  I first want to thank Shazia (the owner of Shazia's Boutique) for allowing us to shoot at her beautiful boutique.   It is always a pleasure to work with successful women.  Women who are inspiring, love to motivate other women, love fashion, and are their own boss. This project is called "Women with Style".

Meet Sandra, she is the founder of Gitana Styling. She has been in the fashion industry for 10 years, she is also a producer and writer!  Her main objective is to help women gain confidence and feel empowered by helping them look their best.  She uses her experience in fashion to select her clients wardrobe based on their personality and career.

How many of you ladies cant keep up with today's fashion or you simply don't have the time to care about your style!?      As a mom and business owner, I know for a fact that we put ourselves last.  We get so caught up with life that everything else becomes a priority but ourselves.    This, in the long run, leads to a loss of confidence.  Every woman deserves to feel amazing inside and out!

We had so much fun doing this photo shoot and whats most important I got to meet two successful women with dreams.    Always remember to turn your cants into cans and your dreams into plans...
